Bullets - The first band I really cared about

No matter how many years pass, no matter how much the music has changed - this band made me in so many ways.

I started to play drums quite late on compared to some, I started to learn to play drums at 13 but had successfully completed my grade 8 by the age of 16. At college there were few like minded people musically, I was in a few bands but nothing serious and certainly nothing original.

At 19 I started my first completely original musical project along side my dear friend Pete Williamson, Tom Lee and Mick Phillips. I learned of bands I'd never heard of before that went on to further shape my identity as a musician. Bands like Thrice, Glassjaw, Deftones, Nine Black Alps, Jimmy Eat World, Quicksand and so many more.

We released 1 EP and started work on a second that sadly was never recorded. Below (at the bottom of this post) is the only video of us playing my favourite song we ever wrote. It features two of my favourite things we did in that band. Firstly - The section in which we all stood and shouted "This is not a war" - a reference to Glassjaw's "Tip Your Bartender" - We shouted it away from mics and just hoped the mics around the stage would pick it up. Secondly - The bass line of the whole middle 8 section.

We also once played on Halloween dressed as the GhostBusters. I LOVED THAT BAND.
