31st May 2018

Today (Thursday 31st May 2018) marks the 70th anniversary of the Birth of John Bonham.
For those of you still unsure as to why this is such a big deal; first of all, are you even a drummer?
Secondly, have you been living under a rock?

John Bonham is of course the legendary sticksman of Led Zeppelin and is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock drummers to have ever lived. John was born in 1948 and sadly passed away at the mere age of 32 in 1980. He was well known for his massive grooves, flawless feel and triplet kick illusion. If you really need to know more about his musicality, the only thing I can do is give you homework. Once you hear it, you'll get it. Bonzo was formidable behind the drum kit.
Listen to: Stairway to Heaven, When the Levee Breaks, Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir, Rock and Roll, Black Dog, Immigrant Song, Good Times Bad Times, Four Sticks, Moby Dick... I could go on and on and on and on.
Unfortunately for the world, John struggled with his addictions and living his rock and roll lifestyle. On the day of his death he had drank 1.4 Litres of 40% ABV Vodka (approx. 40 shots) and sadly he asphyxiated on his own vomit.
The world will forever be a lot less groovy without him, but he will always be remembered as one of the most influential drummers of modern western music.

My Friends at Rhythm Inc had a great opportunity to have an Amber Ludwig Vistalite Reissue (John Bonham's signature kit) in house for fans of Bonzo to visit and play their favourite Bonham groove.
Thank you to Rhythm Inc for having me.
